25 Days of Dishes: Hot Cocoa Mix

Freeform has the 25 days of Christmas to celebrate the season.  And what goes better with a movie than food? A Beverage?  Ridder's 25 days of Dishes is here to the rescue!

Maybe your looking for new inspiration.  Every day in December we will feature a different idea for you. These will be a mix of baked goods, sides, main dishes and cocktails.  Who doesn't need a good festive beverage to get you through the season.

Think of this as your advent calendar of holiday ideas.

The season in general is full of iconic dishes and deserts that we only enjoy during this magical time of the year.  There are many dishes that bring back memories from childhood.  This collection of dishes are a collection of personal recipes along with ideas taken from others worthy of a share.  Enjoy, have a happy holiday season and Merry Christmas.

Christmas comes during the winter months when sometimes all we want to do is cozy up with a good book or Netflix and drink something that will knock the chill right out of our bones!  Let's also admit to ourselves that we love chocolate.  Sure you can buy box filled with pouches at your local mega mart. Why do that when it's easy to make at home and will cut the cost exponentially.

And when you show up to a gathering this mix makes a great host gift or stocking stuffer.

Ingredients:

1 cup cocoa powder1 tsp ground cardamom2 tsp ground chipotle powder2 tsp ground cinnamon3 Tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips chopped (for a Mexican cocoa twist use dark chocolate)1/2 cup sugarglass jar/s with lid

Directions:

To make just simply mix all of the ingredients in a bowl and empty into glass jar or jars with sealed lid for storage.

Feel free to make in big batches and store for delicious warm-ups all winter long.  Just mix 2 Tbsp with about 8 oz of hot milk.

*For a fun twist use a small funnel or rolled up paper to place the mix into clear glass tree ornaments. Simply wrap a ribbon around them and attach mixing instructions.  Watch video how to fill them below:
