Parker McCollum Stuns ACM Awards Crowd With Acoustic Take On 'Burn It Down'

Parker McCollum amazed the crowd at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday (May 16) with a new rendition of his hit song "Burn It Down."

The 2024 ACM Award winner toned down his usual fiery approach to the track with a mostly acoustic performance of the song from his 2023 album Never Enough, sitting on a simple circular stage surrounded by other musicians playing guitars along with him as lights framed the group.

The acoustic approach allowed the intense emotions of the song to be on full display as McCollum sang about how he wanted to "burn it down 'til it's ashes and smoke/ burn it down to the smolderin' coals/ burn it down 'til I don't want you no more."

Not only did McCollum bring down the house with his performance, but he was also up for two awards during the night, scoring some hardware before the show even began when he received the award for Visual Media of the Year for his music video for "Burn It Down" music video. He also received a nomination for Single of the Year. Check out the full list of nominees and winners.

McCollum is gearing up for an unforgettable performance next month with "the King," George Strait. The "Burn It Down" singer previously shared that he will be part of the lineup during Strait's headlining show for his first-ever concert at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, the same venue he was forced to cancel a show in earlier this year "due to unforeseen circumstances."

Outside of his music, McCollum is also getting ready for an exciting new chapter of his life as he and his wife, Hallie, are expecting their first child together. They announced the happy news earlier this year in a sweet social media post of the couple sharing a kiss as the sun sets while Hallie cradled her growing baby bump. The couple, who tied the knot in a Texas ceremony in 2022, also shared in their gender reveal that they are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their baby boy, sweetly saying they love their "little cowboy."
