REJOICE!
My heart was SO FULL on Monday when I got to stop by the brand new Sip & Purr Cat Cafe on the lower east side!
The place has a really cool story behind it that Jennifer, one of the wonderful people who works there, told me about involving the owner Katy. Katy was on vacation in Amsterdam, when she was out at a restaurant drinking wine, and a cat hopped up on her lap. She said how it was so relaxing, and that she would love to have a place just like this! She did her research, and started Sip & Purr, which is the only one in the Midwest that offers a full menu. It includes cocktails, beer, coffee, and plenty off food including salads, cheese boards, and lots of gluten free and vegan options. Every meal is vegetarian as well.
There were lots of kitties to play with, including Joey, Jaxonette, and Tess. Oh, and did I mention that all of these cats are up for adoption?!? If we didn't already have 2, I legit would have taken Tess home with me. These cats in particular were from Lakeland Animal Shelter in Elkhorn. Bacon, the big orange kitty, is a huge ham that loves to be loved, but he is the only one not up for adoption. Think of him as the hypeman for his fellow feline friends.
To go to the Sip & Purr Cat Cafe, make sure you make your reservation on their website because times fill up fast! They're open Monday, and then Wednesday through Sunday (closed on Tuesdays), and their hours are 10am-9pm except on Sundays (10am-6pm).
