Mad About Milwaukee: The Avalon Theater

We have recently moved to the Bay View area, and a coworker of mine told me how I HAVE to check out the Avalon Theater. I wanted to see "A Quiet Place" with John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, so I figured I would give this place a try yesterday (Sunday).

First of all, parking was super easy, which is always a huge issue for me. I get minor anxiety attacks when I have to keep circling around, and I got to pull right up in front.

The man who was working the ticket booth was extremely nice and welcoming. My ticket was only $8.50, which was amazing since most big chain theaters are in the $12 ball park. Of course I had to get popcorn and a bottle of water, which was around $9 with tax (again, cheaper than the big places).

When I got into the theater, I was overwhelmed with how beautiful and clean it was. The seats were super comfy, and I love how it's not a long row of them like again, the bigger places. The only critique I will give is that I wish there were footrests that came out from underneath, but then I would most likely fall asleep so it's probably a good thing they aren't there... THAT'S how comfortable the seats are.

One of the women working at the theater came around and took food and drink orders right at our seats! The food was reasonably priced, with things like quesadillas, sandwiches, and pizza on the menu. She also brought out beers, yes beers, in actual pint glasses.... no plastic! Classy move, Avalon.... classy move indeed. She even came around when the movie was playing which I thought was clutch.

As for the movie itself? Well, it's no surprise that "A Quiet Place" was #1 this past weekend at the box office. It beat out "Blockers" and "Ready Player One" with $50 million (it only cost $17M to make too). When one of my girlfriends asked me how I liked the movie, I told her, "My body hurts from tensing up so much".... yup, that's how suspenseful it was. John Krasinski did an amazing job with the movie, and Emily Blunt proved why she is one of the best in the biz. No disrespect to her husband, but to me, she out shined them all with her outstanding performance. And side note, she's running for her life and has no make up on and her hair in a loose braid... and girlfriend STILL looks flawless. I only have one gripe with the movie, which I will list at the end since it's a semi but not really spoiler.

OH! And did I mention that the bathrooms are really cool AND spotless?! Needless to say, I will be going back to this place to see tons of movies, including "Avengers: Infinity War" because hi... Chris Pratt.

Have a hidden gem here in Milwaukee that I should check out? Shoot me an email! quinn1061@iheartmedia.com

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

I only have one issue with the movie, or I guess I should say with the characters.... I get it, the main characters are super attractive.... so good looking that they're married in real life, so I understand that you can't keep your hands off of each other.... but WHY would you think it's a good idea to bring a baby, who makes a ton of noise in case you didn't know, into a world where you have to be completely silent 97% of the time or you're killed?!?!? And yes, I know, these things happen... but on your runs, you didn't think to grab certain items to avoid getting pregnant?! Ok, I'm done.
