Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month is this month, and Going Gold doesn't get the attention it really deserves. Did you know that only 4% of the money raised through the National Cancer Institute goes towards children's cancer?
FOUR. PERCENT.
I found some ways that you can help, and certain things you can buy where the profits go towards helping kids with cancer.
Personally, I've bought a baseball cap and 2 headbands from Love Your Melon. I've been very happy with my purchases, AND 50% of the profits support the fight against pediatric cancer.
If you haven't heard of them, Chavez for Charity bracelets are great! I have a really cute yellow one, and some of them benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand (Other bracelets benefit all different organizations, including Water.org. There's a small tag to tell you which bracelet is for which charity). It's a foundation that was started by a little girl named Alex who had neuroblastoma. She started her own lemonade stand to raise money, but unfortunately she passed away from cancer when she was just 8-years-old. Her parents have taken on the charity, and it's raised over $150 million.
I'm a sucker for Alex & Ani bracelets too .... one of which is a unicorn bangle that benefits Children's Miracle Network.
If you know of another organization or any events coming up that benefit Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, please shoot me a message! I would love to feature them, and get the word out!
