Pizza shop owner gave day's profits to employees - Make It Through Monday

Awhile back we talked about how employees are totally over job perks like pizza parties, in-house coffee shops and ping pong tables and this pizza shop owner understands his employees are more valuable than that. Josh Elchert, the owner of Heavenly Pizza in Ohio, had an employee appreciation day where he gave the entire day's profits to his workers which added up to about $78 an hour for each staffer. He explained "You can have the best pizza in the world but if you have no one here to make it, it doesn't matter." That is a business owner who understands the value of his employees. The customers helped out as well since the profits were about double what they usually are for the day which is really cool too. You can read more on this story at WOTL.com.

Happy to highlight Heavenly Pizza for my Make It Through Monday moment as I think it's awesome that this owner was willing to give up his profits for the day to show his employees how much he appreciates them. Yes employees should be grateful for the "pizza parties" and extra perks but the real way to show appreciation is through compensation and this is a business owner who will be able to hang onto good employees which is a challenge right now.
