John Stamos revealed this 'Full House' co-star helped him get sober

Uncle Jesse and Stephanie had a super close relationship on the show 'Full House' but in real life they share a close bond as well. At a recent award ceremony where Jodie Sweetin, who plays Stephanie on the show, was being honored John Stamos (uncle Jesse) revealed that it was Sweetin who was his guiding force in helping him fight his addiction problem. During a speech Stamos was giving at the event, he surprised everyone by opening with a scary story about driving under the influence which resulted in a DUI and basically said it took him a long time of disappointing everyone who cared about him and eventually hitting rock bottom.

Sweetin herself suffered with drug and alcohol addiction for years. When I was a sophomore at Marquette University Jodie Sweetin came and shared her story with us and we found out later that she was actually under the influence while giving that talk and then used the money she was paid to buy more drugs. You can read about that at OnMilwaukee.com. The 37-year-old actress has been sober now for eight years and has not only helped herself but John Stamos as well. He said she was basically the only one who understood how to get through it. You can read more on their story at tiphero.com.
