Police Once Again Warn Parents To Check Halloween Candy For Drugs

No this is not the joking situation where parents tell their kids they're "checking the candy to make sure it's safe" and then precede to eat half of it. Police in Pennsylvania are seriously urging parents to be on the lookout this Halloween after authorities found "Nerds Rope edibles containing 400mg THC." I remember being a kid and there was that scare where needles were being found in candy so parents really needed to check the candy. Then for a while it died down, even though you should always check to be on the safe side, but now it's back and in full force. Drugs in my option will be harder to find in the candy though since they look exactly the same. I guess the "Nerds Rope" had a warning label right on it that said "for medical use only" and "keep out of reach of children and animals." Ferrara Candy Company, who make Nerds candy, said this is a counterfeit product and is no way associated with them.

The FDA has issued a list of Halloween food safety tips to protect kids and help parents through this process. Some people feel they might be jumping the gun just a bit with this scare and warning. No one was trying to distribute this candy to kids on Halloween. It was actually found while fulfilling a search warrant. CBS News has the full story.
