Could The Drive-Thru Be Going Away?

I can honestly say I never thought I'd be writing a blog about how we may see an end to the drive-thru! According to an article from msn.com a growing number of cities across the U.S. have decided to ban the construction of new drive-thru windows. So far some cities in the following states have already begun to ban drive-thrus like Minnesota, California, New Jersey and Missouri. As you can imagine most people are freaking out wondering why this is necessary when the drive-thru saves them so much time. One article states the reasoning behind this is due to health concerns. They think banning drive-thrus may help with obesity. They also think it might help with pedestrian safety, litter and traffic. This is quite controversial though as many feel getting rid of the drive-thru won't help with any of this and in some cities the obesity rate had increased. The National Restaurant Association is fully against this due to how it would affect their business since one in four restaurant visits take place in the drive-thru. Watch the video below for more from msn.com.

What are your thoughts on this? I personally feel there are much more important issues we could be discussing and focusing on instead of banning the restaurant drive-thru.
