Momcation is the latest vacation trend

Although I'm not a mom yet I do have one and lots of my friends are now moms so I've seen just how difficult it can be. Even if your significant other helps out it's still draining and you need a break now and again. It's not surprising that a new report found that more and more moms are opting for vacations without kids or even their husband to just be able to get away for a while. The hashtag #momcation seems to have taken off as well with more than 48,000 posts on Instagram and that's just the people using it. Think of all the momcations that haven't been documented on social media! I actually just went on a vacation with my girl friends and it all started because one of my friends was looking to just get away for the weekend. A quick little break from her husband and daughter just to have a bit of relaxation and not have to think about all those responsibilities that come along with the role. After just the one night away I could tell my two friends with kids were happy to get home to their families though.

Not all moms find it easy to take that time away. They feel guilty or anxious but usually after a while that goes away and you're able to enjoy yourself. You certainly shouldn't ever feel guilty as everyone needs a little break now and again. According to an article in the New York Post, Gemma Thompson, a solo female travel expert and blogger, says that the initial apprehension is very typical. She also listed off some popular destinations for momcations in the article here. They seem quite grandiose so don't let those destinations deter you. A quick night or weekend away right in our area can do a lot of good too!
