I realize today is technically Tuesday but when you have a holiday on Monday your Tuesday definitely feels like a Monday and you still need that afternoon pick-me-up. For today's Make It Through Monday moment powered by Winkie's Hallmark & Gifts I decided to share pictures from my labor day getaway to the Mighty Mississippi River. We loaded up the pontoon boat and ventured to the Lacrosse, WI area and spent a couple days boating up and down the river. On Sunday, my brother, his wife and their two friends Liz and Tim joined us and we put in just north of Lacrosse in Trempealeau at Perrot State Park and went north on the river. It was a little chilly but as soon as the sun came out it was such a nice day. My brother brought his dog so we ended up parking on a sand bar for a few hours playing in the water, taking naps on the sand and just soaking up as much sun as possible as our summer comes to an end.
On Monday, it was just my parents, Jaime and myself and this time we launched the boat in Prairie du Chien and went up and down the river just boating for miles and taking in all the scenery. There's a reason the word 'mighty' is always associated with the Mississippi River. The views are breathtaking of course and watching the barges go up and down transporting goods on the river is truly spectacular. I've played on the Mississippi River many times in my life but this was a first for Jaime so it was really fun seeing him experience it for the first time. If you ever have the chance to spend some time on our around the Mississippi River I highly recommend you do.
