Brantley Gilbert has officially launched “a brand new chapter of my career,” the country star confirmed with the release of his newest single. He released “Good Damn” on Friday (March 27).
Gilbert teamed up to write “Good Damn” with Brock Berryhill, Michael Hardy (HARDY) and Taylor Delmar Phillips. Gilbert produced the track with Berryhill. He confirmed earlier this week that he’s “got a new one coming your way,” and offered a sneak peek, which told a story about catching up with an ex. The singer says, “you know good and damn well you miss me, too,” in the lyrics of the new single, which premiered one day early on iHeartCountry stations.
“Tonight begins a brand new chapter of my career. …Simply put, this song is all about shootin’ your shot and just telling it how it is,” Gilbert wrote in a caption on Instagram on Thursday (March 26). He added on Friday morning, “a new era of music is here, and I couldn’t be more excited for this song to be out in the world... Hope y’all love it!”
Gilbert’s new single is described in a press release as “a simmering throwback that nods to the swagger and storytelling of his early days, (which) finds Gilbert leaning into the style that first defined his sound. … ‘Good Damn’ is inspired by the real-life twists in his love story with his wife of 11 years and captures the tension of running into the one who got away and realizing the spark never disappeared.” The release states that “Good Damn” is Gilbert’s first song paving the way for his eighth studio record.
“This song hits close to home for me,” Gilbert shared in a statement. “It’s about a second chance and being honest in the moment. You see someone you’ve got a past with and realize there’s still something there. Instead of overthinking it, you shoot your shot.”
