Carly Pearce reworked the lyrics of another artist’s breakup ballad with a different perspective.

Pearce shared her rendition of the song on TikTok on Tuesday (June 10), replying to a TikToker who commented, ā€œImma need Carly Pearce to remake this in the woman’s POV [point of view].ā€ Pearce said in her caption that ā€œy’all liked this comment over 3,000 times, so I had to do it.ā€Ā

In the video, Pearce sings a cappella: ā€œYou pushed, I pulled/ I should’ve just made the move/ But you did what you always do, you always do/ Oh, I wanted to talk, but you walked away/ Didn’t wanna hear what I had to say/ Stupid you, can’t believe you never knew/ Oh the whole time/ I was just tryin’ to love you.ā€

Peace’s version is reminiscent of Jason Aldean’s ā€œTryin’ to Love Me,ā€ a breakup ballad that appeared on his 15-track record, Old Boots, New Dirt, in 2014. that album also included ā€œJust Gettin’ Started,ā€ ā€œBurnin’ It Down,ā€ ā€œTonight Looks Good on Youā€ and more. Aldean sings in the original version: ā€œI pushed and you pulled/ Should have just fell into you/ But I did what I always do, I always do/ Wanted to talk but I walked away/ Didn't want to hear what you had to say/ Stupid me, can't believe I never knew/ The whole time, you were just trying to love me.ā€

Some TikTokers tagged Aldean, and others suggested the two artists team up on a duet of the 2014 song; however, Aldean has not commented and neither artist has hinted at a collaboration in the works as of publication time on Wednesday (June 11). Listen to Pearce’s rendition here, and listen to Aldean’s song below.
