'People Are Nasty': Carly Pearce Has A Word Of Advice For Summer Travelers

Now that summer travel plans are ramping up, Carly Pearce is reflecting on a job she had before rising to stardom in the country music industry — and that job is inspiring a word of advice.

Pearce used to clean Airbnb rentals in Nashville to make ends meet while she was trying to become a singer. She once said that the job entailed gross tasks like cleaning toilets and hair from showers, and “the things that I saw may have scarred me.” So, she’s urging travelers to “be nice” for the sake of workers who have to clean the Airbnb. She said in a statement shared by her record label: “Once you’ve cleaned those nasty things, you realize how nasty people can be. Remember that there are people that actually have to clean those rooms. So be nice. People are nasty.”

Luckily, Pearce’s days of cleaning up after Airbnb guests are over. The award-winning country artist is gearing up to release her third single from her smash-hit album, 29: Written In Stone. “What He Didn’t Do” is a song that has resonated with fans so much that the crowd at one of her recent shows “sang so loud I couldn’t even hear myself.” Pearce explained earlier this week: “To me, it’s really a song of hope and trying to get smarter before moving forward.”

Pearce’s label shared the “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” artist’s memories of her previous job as Memorial Day often marks the start of summer travel. It also notes, however, that the holiday is first and foremost about honoring those who have served the U.S., particularly those who gave their lives. That’s a sacrifice that Pearce doesn’t take for granted — her sister recently returned home from Kuwait, where she served with the National Guard.

When Cristy returned home, Pearce gushed in an all-caps tweet: “SUPER EMOTIONAL DAY FOR MY FAMILY- WE GOT THE CALL THAT MY SISTER HAS LANDED IN THE US, SAFE & SOUND, AFTER MONTHS SERVING IN OUR NATIONAL GUARD IN KUWAIT. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PRAYED FOR HER— I CAN’T WAIT TO HUG YOU, CRISTY!”
