Events Listed by OnMilwaukee to Commemorate the 20th Anniversary of 9/11

It's hard to believe it's been twenty years since the attacks in New York. I think we all remember where we were "when the world stopped turning," and every year, it's a somber day that we'll never forget. There are several local events in Milwaukee that will be commemorating the 20th Anniversary, and we've teamed up with OnMilwaukee to get you some of those. Here are a few highlights of what we might think you'd be interested in:

Saturday, Sept. 11

Free admission to Summerfest with valid military or veteran ID, beginning at noon. At 3 p.m. a ceremony, in partnership with Generac, War Memorial Center and Summerfest, will be held at the Generac Power Stage.

20th Anniversary of 9/11: Memorial Tribute

Please join Milwaukee Fire Department in remembrance of the fallen members who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. An opening ceremony at noon will be following by a formal ceremony at 1, live music at 4, sunset at 7:08 and a closing ceremony at 8:08. Rain or shine.

Milwaukee County Remembers 9/11, Never Forget 9/11 exhibit opening & Medal of Honor Commemorative Ride Honoring 9/11

Saturday, Sept. 11, 8:30 a.m.

The War Memorial Center is remembering the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attack with a memorial ride to the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial. The ride will leave from the War Memorial Center. Program at 8:30 a.m. followed by ride registration at 9. 10 a.m. ceremony to open new 9/11 exhibit in the Freedom Gallery of the War Memorial. Ride to the 9/11 Memorial in Kewaskum begins at 11 a.m. All proceeds support programs and services at the War Memorial Center.
