Shan's husband, Adam, has the same birthday as Scott - aka, September 11th. So, Shan decided to take off work on Friday to celebrate with him because he's usually out of town working on his birthday. If you've ever met him, you know that he works in sports, but if he didn't, he'd be working in aviation. Adam grew up right around O'hare with his parents' backyard being in the flight path, so he was always watching airplanes. As part of his birthday gift this year, Shan took him to Extreme Flight Simulation in Gurnee. During this, Adam was able to sit in the cockpit and control a virtual plane ride. He "took off" at O'hare and landed back at O'hare, LAX and St. Maarten. Overall, the experience was incredible. The instructor (shout out to Lisa) was there to teach Adam how to man all of the controls and offer any advice.
By the time he was finished, Adam was ready to book his next flight. I'd highly recommend trying something like this! Now, I want to go back and try it, too...
