Tim McGraw Recalls 2018 Collapse & Faith Hill's Life-Changing Ultimatum

Country superstar Tim McGraw is opening up in his recently-released book, Grit & Grace: Train the Mind, Train the Body, Own Your Life. Not only did he give valuable tips and stories about the ways he stays healthy and fit in the lifestyle book, but he also wrote candidly about some of the darkest days in his personal life.

While he may be one of the world's biggest country music stars, things at home were being negatively affected by his fame and success and his wife Faith Hill took notice. “My emotional absence was noticed and it was not scoring any points,” he wrote in the book. “She knew that someone had to lay down the law. Getting real like only she can do, Faith told me, ‘Partying or family, take your pick.'”

That conversation happened over a decade ago and McGraw confessed it was enough for him to get himself in check. He stopped drinking and focused on his health and working out. In addition to his rapid success and fame, the 52-year-old wrote that other personal aspects — like the death of his father — put him in that dark place.

Since changing his life, McGraw has not only gotten ripped and healthy, he's also launched boutique fitness clubs in partnership with Snap Fitness.

Elsewhere in his book, the dad of three opened up about his scary 2018 collapse that happened onstage in Ireland. It turns out, the singer was suffering from a pretty bad case of dehydration. “How can something as simple as drinking water all day be difficult? Dumb as it sounds, it’s always been a problem for me,” he wrote. “It took me a few hard lessons in dehydration ... to fully understand how lots of caffeine, hours of air travel, plus intense workouts could add up to do a number on the hydration of the body.”

We're so glad to see him happy and healthy!
