Every weekday at 6pm, I play a new song that's not in our regular daytime rotation ... and I would love your input too! If there's a new song or a new artist you are loving, send me a message on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for sure.
Kicking things off this past week (3/11) was Jimmie Allen who we love over here at FM106.1! He was in Punta Cana with Ridder, Scott, & Shannen in January for Boots On The Beach, and I wasn't bitter about not being there ... at all. He also recently covered Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper's "Shallow" with another artist I love, Abby Anderson. Oh, and Jimmie will be at Country Thunder this July ... so I guess you could say this guy is pretty busy!
Give his new one, "Make Me Want To", a listen.
On Tuesday, our Twitter account went a littleeee crazy (in the best way possible!) over how excited so many were to hear us play Kip Moore's "The Bull". It's got a really cool sound to it, and we're happy to welcome him in August to the first ever Country in the Burg after having such great shows at Summerfest and at the Riverside Theater last year!
Wednesday's song came from the guy who broke the Fiserv Forum in for country artists ... Chris Young! He was there in October along with Dan & Shay and Morgan Evans, and we played Fan (yea Brenda!) vs. Artist backstage before the show. This one's fun, and he shouts out radio ... so you know we're loving it already! He just dropped the video for it yesterday too.
Thursday was a day for the ladies! Lauren Alaina is opening for Blake Shelton tonight (3/16) in Green Bay, and I'm so bummed that their tour isn't coming through Milwaukee. Fingers crossed for this summer, because I wanna rock out to this song with my horrible dance moves and with a delicious adult beverage in hand. Listen for all of the fun references in this one (I especially love the Christina and Shania shout outs): "Ladies in the 90s".
Closing out the week was "Better Off Gone" from newbie(ish) Logan Mize. He was recently on tour with Russell Dickerson and Carly Pearce, and he made a solo stop at The Rave in early October. I got to see him there with a couple of girlfriends that were in visiting, and he's great live! Check him out if he's back in Milwaukee this summer for sure.
My bonus song for you to check out this week comes from a lady that I want to go out and have too many drinks with. I fell in love with Kassi Ashton's voice and sass when I first heard "Taxidermy" last year. She's got a new one out called "Violins" that will have you saying you lost your give a damn too about every thing in no time.
