Country Fans Remember Luke Perry As Our ‘8 Seconds’ Hero

Country fans are tipping their hats to Luke Perry this week. The 52-year-old actor passed away on March 4th after suffering a massive stroke while in his home.

Luke may have claimed the spotlight for his co-starring role on the hit 90’s TV series, ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ but it would be his staying power that would make him a recognizable character to younger audiences as he played Archie’s father on ‘Riverdale.’

While episodic television was at the pulse of Luke’s career, it was his made-for-cable westerns that stole the hearts of country fans. Luke forever endeared himself to Westerners and rodeo fans with his portrayal of Lane Frost in the bull riding movie, “8 Seconds.” The film would go on to score the highest ratings ever recorded for a Hallmark Movie Channel production.

Luke didn’t stop there and continued to saddle up in other TV westerns, like “A Gunfighter’s Pledge” “Johnson County War” “Angel and the Bad Man” and “Goodnight for Justice.” Luke even roped in a black cowboy hat for a special tip of the cap as he presented the ‘Single Record Of The Year’ award to country star, Alan Jackson for “Chattahoochee” during the 1994 ACM Awards.
