First Responder Friday - Chief Joseph Knitter

Each Friday, we get nominations for "First Responder Friday," and honor a local hero who's making a difference within the Milwaukee community.

This week's First Responder Friday nominee was nominated by Donna Gesch. Here's what she had to say about Joseph Knitter from the South Milwaukee Fire Department:

"Chief Knitter is a true fireman's fireman. As the Chief, he could certainly pull rank at any moment, but he treats everyone with respect regardless of their rank. He makes his department feel like family. He is an avid instructor willing to share his knowledge with anyone willing to learn. Today marks his 35th year on the job. Something virtually unheard of these days in the fire service. Can't think of a better, more deserving man, than Chief Knitter. The residents of South Milwaukee are safe every day under his command."

Thanks for everything you do for our city, Chief Knitter!
