First Responder Friday: Matthew Rittner

Today’s “First Responder Friday” nomination belongs to Matthew Rittner, the 17-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department who was killed in the line of duty this past week. Not only was Rittner an MPD officer, but he was deployed twice to Iraq and was in vehicles that were hit three times by roadside bombs.

At 35 years old, Rittner died way too young. He left behind his wife, whom he married at Miller Park in 2017, and his son. He was a graduate of Greenfield High School, where he wrestled and played tennis. His former teachers and coaches offered rave reviews of his hard work ethic and personality in a statement released by the school.

We thank Officer Rittner for his service and dedication to keeping our city and country safe. Our condolences go out to his family, friends and his teammates within MPD.

Jen's Sweet Treats in Cudahy will be donating 100% of their daily sales this Tuesday (February 12th) to Rittner's family. Special orders are welcome at (414) 940 - 0725.
