If you could draw up the perfect weather day what would it be for you? If you're thinking Sunny and upper 70's this weekend was your dream. With the perfect weather there was lots of things to do in and around Milwaukee. From Brady Street Festival to Taste of Lake Country, Bradford Beach to German Fest. Let's not forget some great fairs in Washington Country Fair and Racine County Fair!
With the nice weather ahead I made it a long weekend and took Friday off. Slept in, enjoyed a morning with my little buddy, my son Jackson.
Friday I couldn't stay away from being on the air. Friends of show Drew Olson and KB were broadcasting down the road from me at Leff's Lucky Town in Wauwatosa for the Drew Olson Show's "Patio Friday" so I walked down and did a segment on the show. Always fun talking sports.
Saturday morning lil man and I got early and hit the beach where Shannen was broadcasting from the FM106.1 beach house at Bradford Beach.
The weather couldn't have been better, the music couldn't have been more kickin' and there was lots of people hangin' and playing volleyball. We hung around for a bit and then headed back on the trail walking. Because lets face it, kids need naps and dads need exercise. Why is a stroller or car ride instant nap for kids? Does it work the same for adults?
One of my favorite traditions is German Fest. The idea of taking my little man to his first one was something I looked forward to but given all the activities Saturday morning and some friends popping by Saturday night, so we had our own Bavarian meal at home. In German it would be called Brotzeit. It's a regular meal in our house.
Dad and Jackson's bottles were full of different beverages but we both enjoyed the food.
Sunday was finally the day we were able to get out to fest! My little man looked great in his hat!
One of my highlight meals at German Fest is the Spanferkel (roasted pig). Yes Jackson enjoyed the pork, German potato salad and sauerkraut.
Best German Fest ever! To get to spend it as a family and to see Jackson’s face light up as he ate his first spanferkel, hendl and kraut! There was dancing, soccer and great times with the family and great friends. True gemütlichkeit!
I can’t wait to spend many more years like this!
