Officials with the BloodCenter of Wisconsin have issued an EMERGENCY appeal for blood donations as they’re experiencing what they’re calling a “critical shortage.”
The recent flu season. along with winter snowstorm last week has created a shortage of blood. Especially the much needed O negative.
The goal of the Blood Center is to have a constant three-day supply of blood.
Anyone who is 17 years old or older, in good health is able to donate as long as they meet eligibility requirements. Parental consent is required for 16 year olds to donate. The entire process takes about an hour.
Donors should bring a photo ID that includes a birth date.
