The Oprah Winfrey Network reality show that was set to document Michael Sam's training camp and his attempt to make the St. Louis Rams' roster has been scrapped.
After a meeting between OWN representatives, the St. Louis Rams and Sam's agent, the plan to feature the NFL's first openly-gay player in a "docuseries" has been postponed. Network president Erik Logan explained, "After careful consideration and discussion with the St. Louis Rams, 'The Untitled Michael Sam Project' has been postponed, allowing Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dreams of making the team." Sam's agent Cameron Weiss agreed saying, "This will allow for Michael to have total focus on football, and will ensure no distractions to his teammates. Everybody involved remains committed to this project and understands its historical importance as well as its positive message." (ESPN)
