Kids around the world can go to a website published by the U.S. military group NORAD and track Santa’s location and progress.

But there’s a twist at this year. Santa will be driving his sleigh – which will be guarded by warplanes.

The military is adding the animated fighter plane escort to give a realistic feel to the website.

"We wanted to let folks know that, hey, this is a NORAD video, and we're the military and this is our mission," said the spokesman, Navy Captain Jeff Davis.

Of course, some parents aren’t too happy about mixing images of Santa with images of war machines.

Josh Golin, associate director of Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, called the move "reprehensible" because it suggests that Santa Claus could be attacked while delivering presents. (
