414 Highlight: 3rd Street Market Hall

I wish you could have seen my husband's face as we walked into 3rd St. Market Hall last week. It was one of those nights where we just had to grab a quick bite and neither one of us wanted to choose where to go. Then, I realized a few more stands had opened at 3rd St. Market Hall, so I surprised him by saying, "We're going somewhere new and exciting."

He had heard of the event space before, but I don't think he ever thought about the concept AND the fact that it's so close to where he works...he can walk a few blocks and go there for lunch! So, if you don't know what 3rd St. Market Hall is, it's essentially a gathering place with local food and a few vendors. It has a bunch of stuff surrounding the venue for people to hang out and play - everything from giant jenga to shuffleboard and a Topgolf Swing Suite. It's cool because the way it's set up is that the center is a bar and the "hang out spot." Then, you have all of the food vendors surrounding it. They're still waiting on a few more things to open up, but as of now, they have pasta, pierogis, burgers and more! This is exactly what Milwaukee needed, and it's in the perfect spot: the old Grand Avenue Mall.

There are plenty of places for you to hang out at all times of the day. I'd recommend having meetings down there, going to the space when you have nothing to do on a weekend or just grabbing a bite quick before going to a show at The Riverside! It's the baby of popular restauranteur, Omar Shaikh, who also owns places like, Carnevor. He opened the hall for a "preview" earlier this year to benefit the victims of the Waukesha Christmas Parade, and now it's open to the public. Check out all of its offerings here!
