Shan's Fun Trick to a Clear Mind: A New Year's Resolution You Can Keep

This year, I'm going to try something I really enjoyed doing my senior year of college. Before I tell you what that is, let me preface it with I'm not a New Year's resolution sort of person, but I figured, this was about as close as I was going to get. Plus, it's a resolution that's fun and easy to keep.

In college, I kept a journal. I (most likely like you) don't have much time to write each day, but I would take about a minute or two each morning to write one thing. Not only did I look forward to it everyday, but I loved looking back at that journal to see what I wrote.

What's the writing prompt? A quote. It's literally as easy as that.

I'd wake up each morning and go to Pinterest, the internet, or reference something that a friend said, and I'd write it down. If I woke up stressed about work, I'd search for "quotes about stress." If I was bummed out for no reason, I'd search for a "motivational quote" or a "quote on persistence." Then, I'd write it in my little journal with the date attached.

The reason I chose to go to Pinterest is because of the graphics that are attached to the quotes. "Don't judge a book by it's cover," but I did.

Anyways, just try writing a quote a day down as it relates to you for a week and decide if you want to keep going. I promise, it'll give you a sense of serenity. Plus - it's a reason for you to buy an artsy fartsy notebook and cool pens!
